Conventional sleepers retro-fit a mattress into a standard-sized sofa. Although they call it a "Queen" you'll find that the mattress is only 72 - 75 inches long, yet when unfolded it takes up 90"-95" of floor space. The American Leather Comfort Sleeper starts with standard size mattresses and designs the sofa around them. When unfolded The Comfort Sleeper takes up only 85" from the back of the sofa to the end of the mattress. Additionally, there is no wasted space between the mattress and the arms and back of the sofa. This results in a smaller scale sofa from arm to arm. For example, several of the Queen Comfort Sleepers are only 69" at the widest point (from arm to arm) but contain a true queen sized mattress: 60" W x 80" L.
